British Mini Golf Championship Tournament comes to Basingstoke Golf Centre

The British Minigolf Association Tour makes its first visit to Basingstoke on Sunday 25th November as Basingstoke Golf Centre’s 9-hole Mini Golf course hosts the eleventh-annual BMGA British Club Championship tournament. Twelve teams from seven of the British Minigolf Association’s clubs will be represented in the matchplay team competition which tees off at 9am.

The Kent Minigolf Club will be looking to become three-time BMGA British Club Champions as they defend the national team title that they first won in 2010 and successfully defended in 2011.
The Basingstoke and Hampshire Clubs will be competing in the tournament for the first time. Each team will consist of three or four players with the best three scores in each team counting as a team total for the hole in the Matchplay format event.

Chairman of the British Minigolf Association Sean Homer said “The BMGA is delighted to be holding the 2012 British Club Championship at the new 9-hole minigolf course at the Basingstoke Golf Centre. This is the venue’s debut on the BMGA Tour and should not only provide a great challenge to all of the teams taking part, but also help level the playing field as there is no home advantage for any of the main contenders for the title. We are expecting the biggest turnout of teams for the 2012 event and as such it promises to be an exciting, hard fought competition and will provide a fitting climax to a terrific minigolf season.”

Mini Golf Coming Soon

The Basingstoke Golf Centre is looking forward to the addition of a 9 hole Mini Golf Course plus putting green due for completion in February 2012.  This exciting new development will enhance the already much improved facility, and add more variety for children and families during their visit.

The Basingstoke and Deane Community Leisure Trust have invested £65,000 towards this scheme as part of their objectives to increase childhood activity levels and enhance existing facilities to meet community needs.
