Please see below the types of roles we recruit for here at the leisure centre and the skills and qualifications required.  


Would you like to work with children and young people?  Can you spare a few hours a week to help make a difference? Would you like to gain new qualifications and experience?  Why not become a volunteer?   We are currently looking for volunteers from all backgrounds with all types of experience.

Duty Manager

The duty manager is responsible for the day to day management of the leisure centre, the supervision of staff and health and safety.  We are looking for a real people person with excellent customer care skills, problem solving and time management skills.  The applicant must be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.


The lifeguard is responsible for supervising the swimming pools, cleaning and the setting up and dismantling of equipment.  Applicants must hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and possess good communication skills.

Swimming Instructor

Swimming instructors are responsible for teaching the H2O Swim Life swimming lesson scheme to children and adults of all ages and abilities.  Applicants must hold a Level 2 Full Teachers qualification and current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.


Receptionists are responsible for taking payments and bookings and providing information to customers both in the centre and over the telephone.  Applicants must have excellent customer care skills, a good telephone manner and pleasant personality

ASA Swimming Teaching qualification

ASA Level 1      18th – 21st April 2017 and 14th-17th August 2017


ASA Level 2      3rd-6th, 10th-14th July 2017

Full Time Duty Manager
To lead, manage and be responsible for the day to day operation of the facilities in and around a leisure centre site within a demanding commercial environment. Support, manage and develop a team of Lifeguards and Supervisors across the site.
  • 40 hours a week shift work including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • NPLQ qualified
  • PPO desirable

Full Time and Part Time Lifeguards
The Recreation Assistant’s role is to work within the centre ensuring customer safety and high standards of service and customer care at all times.  The role will involve supervision of specific activities, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and the safe handling and set up of equipment.
Provide supervision of swimming pools to ensure customer safety at all times by preventing accidents and incidents and by taking the appropriate action in the event of these occurring
  • 40 hours a week shift work including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • NPLQ qualified desirable

Part Time Maintenance Man/Technician
The post holder will be required to consistently provide on a pre-planned, ad-hoc, breakdown and reactive basis, a professional and effective maintenance, service and repair function to the following system types as determined by the Technical and Compliance Manager.
The post holder will be required to provide the maintenance, service and repair function on both a high level of hands-on and appointment & supervision of external sub-contractor’s basis.
